Rankings Game Competition Terms

The promoter is League Winner Group Pty Ltd (ACN 701 404 533), trading as League Winner.

We run two separate prediction competitions, Points and Categories. Each is judged against its own final ranking, described in clause 6.1, but both use the identical scoring formula to turn an entry into a score.

You may enter either competition or both. Each has its own prize and its own winner, decided independently, so one person can win both.

• Entry is open worldwide to individuals aged 18 or over at the time of entry.
• It is your responsibility to make sure entering is lawful where you live. Entry is void wherever entering this kind of competition, or receiving a prize from one, is prohibited by local law.
• Employees of League Winner and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter. We enter our own list for interest, and it is never eligible for a prize.
• Entry is free. You need a League Winner account to submit an entry, but a free account is enough. Paying members get no advantage of any kind in these competitions.

Entries open at 12:00am on 1 September 2026 and close at 11:59pm on 14 October 2026, Melbourne time, which is the reference time zone for every entrant wherever they live. Entries received outside that window are not counted, in either competition.

You can change your list as often as you like up until entries close. After that your entry is final. Every entry is then published, along with the score it earns, so that any result can be checked. What is published is the list and the score, never the name of the entrant beside their picks, which clause 9 sets out in full.

• Submit a single ordered list of 50 NBA players through the entry form on the site, predicting positions 1 through 50 of that competition's final ranking.
• One entry per person per competition. You may hold two entries in total, one in each competition, and never more than one in the same competition.
• All 50 positions must be filled with a distinct, eligible NBA player. Incomplete entries are not scored.
• To be eligible for a prize you need to confirm your email address. We send a one-click link when you submit. If you signed in with Google your address is already confirmed.

6.1 The final ranking. Each competition is judged against a top 50 published by ESPN Fantasy Basketball, as that ranking stands during the season. ESPN calculates the numbers behind both rankings itself, which is the point: the board is a third party's answer, not ours.

The Points competition is judged against the top 50 by per-game average fantasy points under ESPN's standard points scoring, as ESPN applies it. ESPN's standard values are:

These are ESPN's standard values, quoted here for convenience. If ESPN changes its standard scoring during the season, the ranking follows ESPN. Players are ranked on their per-game average across the season, not their season total, so the ranking measures how well a player played in the games they actually played rather than rewarding whoever stayed on the floor for the most games. We apply no games-played minimum of our own on top of that ranking. A player who appears in only a small number of games but averages highly is still considered, and sits wherever the average ranking places them.

The Categories competition is judged against the top 50 of ESPN's own season Player Rater under ESPN's standard category scoring, which measures players across eight categories: points, total rebounds, assists, steals, blocked shots, three-pointers made, field goal percentage and free throw percentage. The Rater is ESPN's season-long value calculation, and its ordering is taken exactly as ESPN publishes it, with no adjustment of ours on top.

6.2 Base value. Each of your 50 positions carries a base value that rises the further down your list it sits, because correctly placing a player at 50 is harder than correctly placing one at 1. The base value for position p is 100 + 4 × (p − 1), so position 1 is worth 100 and position 50 is worth 296. The rise is gradual rather than steep, so the top of your list still carries real weight.

6.3 Points earned. Each position earns a share of its base value depending on how close you were. If the player you placed at position p sits at position a in the final ranking, the distance is the difference between them, |p − a|. If that player does not appear in the final ranking at all, the distance is 49, which is the largest distance possible across a list of 50.

Points earned for that position are the base value multiplied by (1 − distance ÷ 49), rounded to the nearest whole number. A player placed exactly right earns the full base value for that position. A player placed as far off as possible earns zero. No position ever scores a negative number.

6.4 Your score. Your score is the sum of the points earned across all 50 positions. The highest total score in a competition wins that competition. A perfect list scores 9,900.

6.5 Checking your score during the season. You can check your current score at any time while the season is running, worked out against the final ranking as it stands at that moment. That running total is provisional and for information only. The official winner of each competition is decided using the final ranking as it stands at the end of the 2026-27 NBA regular season, not any earlier point.

6.6 Publication. We publish the final ranking and the score of every entry, so any result can be checked.

If two or more entries share the highest score in a competition, the entry submitted first wins, by recorded submission time. This is a fixed rule based on entry time. It is not a random draw.

• A prize of US$100 is awarded for each competition, to that competition's winner. Two prizes are available in total, US$200 across both, and one person may win both.
• Prizes are paid by PayID where the winner has one, by PayPal if not, and otherwise by an alternative method we agree with the winner directly.
• Payment is made within 5 days of a winner being confirmed.
• A winner has 7 days from being contacted to provide the details needed to pay them. If they do not respond within that time the prize may be forfeited and offered to the entrant with the next highest score.

These are games of skill. No element of chance decides any winner, other than the tie-break in clause 7, which is itself fixed and non-random.

By entering you accept that your list of 50 players may be used in aggregate, de-identified form to calculate and publish community consensus rankings on the League Winner site, of the kind commonly called average draft position.

No entrant's name is ever shown next to their specific picks, in either competition. Only aggregated, non-identifiable data appears in anything we publish. We handle personal information in line with our Privacy Policy.

• We may disqualify any entry we reasonably believe to be fraudulent, automated, or made otherwise than in line with these terms.
• We may amend these terms, or cancel or suspend either competition, where reasonably necessary, and will tell entrants about any material change.
• To the extent the law allows, our liability to an entrant in connection with these competitions is limited to the value of the prize that entrant is entitled to.
• These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
• League Winner is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the NBA, Yahoo, ESPN, Sleeper, Fantrax, or any team or player.
