Fantasy basketball auction values for 2026-27
An auction draft asks a different question from a snake draft. It is not who is better, it is what they are worth, and the answer depends entirely on the room: the same player is a different price in a ten team league than a twenty team one, and a different price again when the budget is three hundred dollars rather than two hundred. Most auction cheat sheets are printed for a standard league and left for you to adjust in your head. This one is priced for the settings you type in, and it is priced from the same board as our rankings, so what you see here and what you see there agree about who is better.
The board covers points leagues and category leagues, because they are genuinely different questions and a single set of dollar values cannot answer both. How are fantasy basketball auction values calculated?
Every player is measured against replacement level, which is the last player who gets rostered in your league: the teams multiplied by the roster spots. A player is worth what they produce above that man and nothing for the production below it, because you could have had that much from the waiver wire for a dollar. The money in the room is the teams multiplied by the budget, a dollar of it is set aside for every roster spot that has to be filled, and whatever is left is divided among the players in proportion to what they produce above replacement.
Why do the values change when I change the league size?
Because replacement level moves with it. In a ten team league the last rostered player is the 130th best; in a twenty team league it is the 260th, who is a good deal worse. That makes the gap between a star and a replacement wider, and there are more managers in the room who all have to leave with a full roster, so the best players cost more in a deeper league even though nothing about them has changed.
Do the auction values add up to my league's budget?
Yes, exactly. Add up the price of every rostered player and you get the teams multiplied by the budget, to the dollar. That is the whole point of an auction value rather than a rating with a dollar sign in front of it: you can check it. The whole-dollar figures are allocated rather than rounded one at a time, so they add up too.
Should I use the points values or the category values?
Use whichever your league scores. The points board prices players on the fantasy points they produce, and the category board prices them on how far they move each of the nine categories against the rest of the rostered field. They disagree about plenty of players, and that is correct rather than a fault: a poor free throw shooter who scores heavily is an asset in one format and a problem in the other.
Is there a minimum bid in the auction values?
Yes, a dollar. A roster spot cannot be bought for nothing, so a manager filling thirteen spots has thirteen dollars they can never spend on anyone else, and setting that money aside before dividing the rest is what makes the board add up. Some auction value tools floor at zero instead and print values below a dollar, which makes their top of the board look dearer than ours by roughly the money those seats cost.
Are the auction values free?
