Giannis is a Heat now, and Bam Adebayo is the better value
Giannis Antetokounmpo is a first-round pick in both formats with a free throw problem in one, while Bam Adebayo and Andrew Wiggins are both going later than our projections say they should.
Bam AdebayoProMiami sent Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and three first-round picks to Milwaukee for Giannis Antetokounmpo, and the trade puts one of the best fantasy players in the league next to a center the draft market has been undervaluing all summer. The obvious question is whether the two of them get in each other's way. On the numbers they mostly do not, because their games overlap less than their positions suggest, and the more interesting finding is how differently each one's value holds up across the two formats.

What follows reads each player's projected line under ESPN's default points scoring and under 9-cat, with the projections board's roster slot value as the rank, so the games a player is expected to miss are already priced in. ESPN draft positions are as we read them at the end of September.
Every player in this story is on the fantasy basketball rankings and the 2026-27 projections, and the NBA depth charts show where each one stands in his team’s rotation tonight.
