Kyshawn George scored 33 the night Anthony Davis sat, and the climb started before the ankle did

NBC Sports and Basketnews reported that Davis hurt the ankle in Wednesday's home loss to the same Hawks and played through it, and our box score from that game has him at 26 points and 10 rebounds in 30 minutes, so the injury was not visible in the numbers until it took him off the floor. Friday was the first game he had missed this season, and no timeline has been given.

Kyshawn George took the shots Davis left behind. He scored 33 points on 10-for-19 shooting with five threes, seven assists, four rebounds, two blocks and a steal in 39 minutes of the 139-132 loss, according to the Associated Press, which came to 63 fantasy points under ESPN's standard scoring, the third-best line in the league on Friday behind Luka Dončić and Jayson Tatum. The more useful number for a manager is what came before it, because George had already scored 22 and 25 in the two games before Davis sat.
