Luka Dončić added 15 rebounds and five steals to 45 points, and the Lakers play again on Monday

Dončić's 91 fantasy points against Toronto matched his 52-point night in Utah, and the one thing worth watching this week is Monday's second night of a back-to-back, the spot where he sat last week.

The scoring was the expected part of Luka Dončić's Sunday. The 15 rebounds, a season high, and the five steals were not, and they are why his line against Toronto was worth 91 fantasy points under ESPN's standard scoring, exactly what his 52 points in Utah were worth a week earlier. He finished the Lakers' 131-125 win with 45 points on 12-for-23 shooting, 8-for-12 from three and 13-for-13 at the line, plus six assists, a block and seven turnovers in 35 minutes, according to ESPN's recap and box score.

ESPN's recap also notes that he has now scored at least 37 points in four straight games, and that it was his second game with the Lakers of 40 points, 10 rebounds and five steals, a line no other Laker had reached since the 1982-83 season. For fantasy managers none of that changes where he is drafted or started; what deserves a minute of attention is the schedule, because the Lakers host Miami on Monday on the second night of a back-to-back, and the last time the Lakers played the second night of one, he sat it out.

The night he sat

On October 28, the second night of the Lakers' first back-to-back, the team ruled Dončić out at the Clippers with back tightness, a move TSN's and Field Level Media's reports described as precautionary. He had scored 41 against Portland the night before, and he came back to score 37 at Golden State and 45 on Sunday, so nothing since suggests the back is a problem. It does mean the Lakers have shown once that they will hold him out of the second game in two nights, and Monday against the Heat is exactly that spot. We have found no report on his status for Monday at the time of writing, so the Lakers' injury report is the thing to read before lineups lock.

Where he stands on our boards

Sunday moved his projection from 61.3 to 62.4 fantasy points a game under ESPN's scoring, and he stays third on our points board, the same place the analysts' consensus has him. On our 9-cat board he is third as well, one place above the consensus. In his six games he is averaging 37.7 points, 5.8 threes and 5.5 turnovers, and the turnovers are the one cost a categories manager pays for him: the seven on Sunday were his second-highest total of the season after the 11 he had against the Clippers on October 23, when his line was worth just 20 fantasy points.

Kessler, again

The game also gave Walker Kessler another efficient night, 16 points on 6-for-6 shooting with 15 rebounds and three blocks, worth 51 fantasy points. It lifted him from 42nd to 38th on our points board and from 33rd to 25th on our 9-cat board, where the consensus has him 49th and 32nd. We wrote about how he arrived in Los Angeles in Walker Kessler's 12-for-12 debut and his follow-up in Walker Kessler followed 12-for-12 with six blocks; Sunday is more evidence for the same conclusion.

What to do

Start Dončić every night he is active, and in daily-lineup leagues check Monday's report against Miami before you lock, with a bench option ready in case the Lakers repeat what they did on October 28. The Lakers play four times this week, Monday against Miami, Wednesday at Sacramento, Friday against Portland and Sunday at Detroit, so even a night off leaves him three games. Scottie Barnes, who scored 29 for Toronto with Kawhi Leonard out for a fourth straight game with his knee, according to ESPN, plays again on Monday, when Toronto visits the Clippers. For the earlier game in this run, see Luka Dončić scored 52 in Utah.
